I really only saw this at night and briefly in the morning the next day. Free camping. Strangely, the loneliest campground I had on my whole road trip from Durham, NC to Great Basin NP, NV (except maybe for a wildlife area I stayed at on the CO/KS border). Be prepared, this may be one of the more remote experiences/places you can find in the east near an Interstate. Trees in campground allowed hammock-camping. Buzzard's Roost is cool - hear Eastern Screech-Owl in the night, was able to see Kentucky across the Ohio the next morning. Learned a bit about the people and place there, and got some really neat views of waterfalls on a brief hike down to the river. Just watch out for the poison ivy - it is Everywhere!
It's a good place for a quiet picnic and walk. Can see barges on the river.
Very well-tended and well-kept primitive campground with an overlook for viewing the Ohio River. Trails are clear and well marked.
Very isolated in the stiks of Indiana. If you aren't local this is not the campground for you. It was all around creepy, unwelcoming vibe with 4 small sites right On top of one another. No views from the sites, no cell phone service avavailable and the surrounding forest was like a maze to get it. If you are not from around here DO NOT STAY!!
Spent 5 nights here, awesome experience. The views are spectacular, and the hiking trail nearby is very scenic
